Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jacinto Cruz (ranked 693 p4p, 2146 weight class) and Tiago Tomate (ranked 98 p4p, 262 weight class). Tomate has chosen “Danger! High Voltage”, by Electric Six as his entrance music. Tiago Tomate has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jacinto Cruz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tiago Tomate! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Valeri Chadov and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cruz walks into a straight right hand from Tomate. A big left from Cruz misses. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Cruz checks a leg kick. Cruz connects with a looping right hand.
Cruz lands with an overhand left. A good leg kick by Cruz. Cruz connects with a nice looking jab.
Jacinto Cruz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tomate connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Cruz lands a glancing blow to the side of Tomate's head. Tomate moves into range and clinches up with Cruz. Cruz ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Cruz no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cruz trying to control the position.
Cruz pulls Tomate in to control the position. Cruz looking for a sweep. Not yet Cruz, not yet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cruz looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Tomate passes into side control.
Cruz tries to buck Tomate off but Tomate is having none of it. You can see the frustration on Cruz's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Cruz is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Tomate off and has taken his back! Cruz controls the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cruz has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Cruz continues to stall. Cruz wants to control but Tomate is keeping busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cruz has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Tomate's body.
Tomate is trying to get back to his feet but Cruz has full control of the position and if anything, Tomate has just worked his way into a worse spot. Will Cruz go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Tomate is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Cruz.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Cruz is looking to control Tomate but Tomate is wriggling around and keeping busy. Tomate wants to get back to his feet. Cruz biding his time, looking for the opening.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. This is a sustained period of stalling by Cruz. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Jacinto Cruz dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Tomate checks a leg kick. Cruz fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Tomate. Cruz missing with a left hand there. Tomate was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Cruz lands a jab to the head.
Cruz attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Cruz lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Cruz with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
A chopping leg kick lands by Tomate. We've been told by Cruz's head coaches at Zombie MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Cruz slips under a jab. Cruz throws a poor cross that misses
enabling Tomate to counter with a crisp jab. Cruz feints and then cracks Tomate's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Tomate down. Cruz needs to keep his hands up - Tomate had a free shot at his head there. Nice shot lands for Tomate. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cruz slips a jab from Tomate. Cruz closes the distance and clinches. Cruz working aggressively here.
Cruz is trying to pull guard but Tomate turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Tomate throws an elbow but it misses.

That's one minute gone in the round. Cruz tries to pull guard but Tomate holds him up against the cage and eventually Cruz drops back down to his feet.
Tomate takes a shot to the head. Tomate lands an elbow inside. Cruz jumps guard but Tomate stands there with Cruz around his waist. Cruz gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jacinto Cruz. That's going to take a lot out of him. Tomate scores with an uppercut up the middle. Tomate looks to throw an elbow but misses. Cruz tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Tomate lands an elbow inside. A short uppercut from Cruz. Cruz misses with a body punch.
A head punch on the inside from Cruz fails to land. Tomate throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Cruzs head. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Tomate lands with a short head shot on the inside. Tomate goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Tomate is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Cruz has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Tomate is looking to defend but Cruz has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Tomate! Cruz pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Tomate taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jacinto Cruz!
