PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jorgen Kruth (ranked 235 p4p, 316 weight class) and Charles Mesquita (ranked 27 p4p, 35 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kruth might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Black Hole Sun- Soundgarden. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Charles Mesquita enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jorgen Kruth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Charles Mesquita!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kruth tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Mesquita counters with a nice uppercut.
Mesquita throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kruth stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Kruth closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mesquita to the mat! Mesquita manages to get full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mesquita is looking for a triangle here but Kruth uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Kruth is working to tighten his grip on Mesquita's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Mesquita has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Kruth is really squeezing tight and eventually Mesquita passes out! Kruth breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Jorgen Kruth!
After the fight, Jorgen Kruth was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
