I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jack Phillips was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alopodis shoots and misses
and Phillips counters with a straight right hand.
Nice straight punches there by Phillips. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Phillips.
Alopodis shoots in for a takedown but Phillips shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Phillips pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Alopodis back to the cage. Phillips follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Nice takedown defense from Phillips. No joy for Alopodis on that attempt.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Phillips has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Alopodis goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Phillips turns into him and now he's in Alopodis's guard.

Phillips got a little sloppy there for a moment and Alopodis has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Phillips has managed to get both his arms back between Alopodis's legs - danger averted.

Alopodis is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Ceph Alopodis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
