Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 21 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tau Masunwendinghamar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 22 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Peter Beardsley! The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Topper Green and Chris Dean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Masunwendinghamar swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Masunwendinghamar uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Beardsley. Masunwendinghamar thows a left - swing and a miss! Beardsley misses with a straight right. Beardsley on the wrong end of a nice hook. Beardsley keeps Masunwendinghamar at a distance using the push kick. Beardsley throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Beardsley throws out a token jab with nothing on it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Masunwendinghamar throws out a loose jab but Beardsley uses good head movement to avoid it. Beardsley is looking for the big counter here. Masunwendinghamar takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Beardsley lands with a shot to the body. Masunwendinghamar throws a jab when Beardsley was well out of range. Beardsley tries to counter with a clinch but Masunwendinghamar shakes him off and moves away. Beardsley scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Masunwendinghamar misses with an uppercut. Beardsley fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Masunwendinghamar looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Beardsley ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Masunwendinghamar has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Gold Samurai's Gym in the buildup to the fight. Masunwendinghamar throws a right hand that misses
and Beardsley counters with a stiff right hand. Beardsley fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A little feinted left hand from Masunwendinghamar on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Beardsley ducks under a wild hook from Masunwendinghamar.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Beardsley cracks a nice hook into Masunwendinghamar's ribs. Tau Masunwendinghamar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Beardsley throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Masunwendinghamar sees it coming and avoids it easily. Masunwendinghamar is looking to counter punch. Masunwendinghamar uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Beardsley has time to react. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Beardsley throws a head kick but Masunwendinghamar moves out of range.
Nice straight punches there by Beardsley. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Beardsley. Masunwendinghamar misses with a hook. Beardsley ducked under it nicely. Beardsley scores with a jab. Masunwendinghamar misses with a looping left. Beardsley tries to clinch but fails miserably and Masunwendinghamar counters with a lovely straight right hand! Beardsley throws a body shot but no joy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Beardsley moves into the clinch. Beardsley lands with a short head shot on the inside. Beardsley scores with a hook to the body. Masunwendinghamar is breathing heavily. Beardsley fails to pull guard.
Masunwendinghamar swings wildly with an uppercut but Beardsley uses good head movement to avoid it. Beardsley lands a hook to the side of the head. Masunwendinghamar misses with a short punch on the inside. Beardsley digs a right hand underneath Masunwendinghamar's ribcage. Masunwendinghamar let out a lung full of air as it connected. Beardsley lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Masunwendinghamar tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Masunwendinghamar looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Masunwendinghamar wants to get back to striking at distance but Beardsley won't allow it.
Beardsley keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Masunwendinghamar's efforts to push away. Masunwendinghamar swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Beardsley is trying to pull guard but Masunwendinghamar turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Beardsley struggles to land a body shot inside as Masunwendinghamar controls his hands.
Beardsley has Masunwendinghamar pressed against the cage, preventing Masunwendinghamar from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Beardsley cracks Masunwendinghamar with a nice body shot.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Beardsley manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Beardsley seems keen to control Masunwendinghamar's posture. Beardsley has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Masunwendinghamar should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Beardsley has tightened it up now! Masunwendinghamar should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Peter Beardsley! A less than humble Peter Beardsley misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
