Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rod De Minaur (ranked 5 p4p, 149 weight class) and Olyn Seran (ranked 1 p4p, 22 weight class). De Minaur comes to the cage accompanied by Seek and Destroy . Seran has chosen Sound of Silence - Disturbed as his entrance music. Olyn Seran has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 38 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Rod De Minaur! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 34 - 22 - 1, fighting out of New York, Olyn Seran! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Seran shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and De Minaur counters with a leg kick. De Minaur drops his hands momentarily and Seran takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
It looks like Rod De Minaur has been cut. Seran misses with the body kick and De Minaur connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Seran dives in and grabs De Minaur's left leg, looking for a takedown. De Minaur pushes down on Seran's head and hops out. Seran moves into range and clinches up with De Minaur. De Minaur swings wildly with an uppercut but Seran uses good head movement to avoid it. Seran goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
De Minaur tries to work over Seran's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Seran creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Seran working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. De Minaur struggles to land a body shot inside as Seran controls his hands.
Seran lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. De Minaur misses with some punches.
That's one minute gone in the round. De Minaur lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. De Minaur tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Seran keeps the fight in the clinch, despite De Minaur's efforts to push away. Seran is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. De Minaur can't fight it off and eventually Seran manages to take the fight to the floor. De Minaur looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Seran drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and De Minaur dives on top into guard. De Minaur is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Seran looking for a guillotine here but De Minaur defends easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Seran is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. De Minaur is aware though and is defending well. De Minaur is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. De Minaur got a little sloppy there for a moment and Seran has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, De Minaur has managed to get both his arms back between Seran's legs - danger averted. De Minaur trying to control the position from guard on top but Seran is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. De Minaur's corner is telling him to maintain position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Seran working for a triangle but De Minaur defends it easily.
De Minaur knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Seran on the ground. De Minaur wants to control from the top but Seran keeps moving.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Seran is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. De Minaur is aware though and is defending well. De Minaur controls from within his opponent's guard. Seran has his foot on De Minaur's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. De Minaur works his way back into a safe position though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Seran looking for a guillotine here but De Minaur defends easily.
De Minaur sitting in guard here, content to control. De Minaur's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. De Minaur looking to improve position, pressing down on Seran's thigh with his hand. Seran seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is De Minaur paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! De Minaur's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Seran picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
