PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ryoto Takahashi (ranked 138 p4p, 731 weight class) and Darsin Bleak (ranked 22 p4p, 90 weight class). Bleak has chosen Enter Sandman as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ryoto Takahashi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Darsin Bleak!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Ackerman and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Bleak with that takedown attempt.
Bleak defending well as Takahashi loads up on a big left hand.

Ryoto Takahashi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Takahashi scores with a jab to the head.
Takahashi fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bleak manages to avoid it.
Bleak shoots in looking for a takedown but Takahashi manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bleak's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Bleak throws a hook but Takahashi blocks it.
Takahashi tests Bleak's chin there with a solid looking shot.

It looks like Ryoto Takahashi has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice uppercut lands for Takahashi. That snapped Bleak's head back.
Bleak throws a hook but Takahashi avoids it easily.
Takahashi looks to land a combination. Bleak sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Bleak digs a right hand underneath Takahashi's ribcage. Takahashi let out a lung full of air as it connected.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bleak tightens his grip and picks Takahashi up, before dumping him to the ground. Takahashi manages to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Takahashi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bleak can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Takahashi has his hands on Bleak's head, controlling the position.

Takahashi is looking for a triangle but Bleak pushes his legs off easily.

Bleak avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Takahashi seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Bleak working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Bleak wants to lay and pray for a moment but Takahashi keeps working.

Bleak is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Takahashi knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

That was a close round but I would say that Ryoto Takahashi will probably get the nod.

Bleak looks up at the clock and then as Takahashi takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Bleak smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Darsin Bleak showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Bleak is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Bleak looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Takahashi with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Bleak lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Takahashi down.
