Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Welter Weight (ranked 1401 p4p, 1839 weight class) and Thufir Hawat (ranked 198 p4p, 256 weight class). Weight kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is They say that I'm Crazy. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 43 - 25 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Welter Weight!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 25 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Thufir Hawat!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Percy O'Donnell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weight's corner calls for a 1-2. Weight obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
It looks like Thufir Hawat has been cut.
Weight defending well as Hawat loads up on a big left hand.
Weight displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hawat throws out the jab.
Hawat lands a jab to Weight's midsection.
Hawat jabs Weight to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Hawat lands a body shot.
Hawat has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Weight throws a body punch but Hawat moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Weight uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hawat.
Hawat drops Weight with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Weight looks back up at him and smiles so Hawat waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Weight is rocked!
It looks like Welter Weight has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hawat chopping away at his opponent's legs.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Hawat pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hawat rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Weight counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hawat fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Weight on the side of the head.
Hawat misses with a hook
and Weight counters with a right hand to the body.
Hawat throws a quick inside leg kick.
Hawat takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Hawat misses with a wild body shot.
Weight throws a hook but Hawat avoids it easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hawat throws a lazy uppercut
and Weight counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Weight is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
Hawat loads up on a big right hand but Weight slips the punch.
Weight ducks under a wild hook from Hawat.
Weight moves out of range as Hawat throws a body kick.
As Hawat looks to move away, Weight throws a big counter combo but Hawat just gets out of the way.
A swing and a miss from Weight.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Weight throws a looping overhand right but Hawat ducks down to avoid it.
Hawat throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Weight on the side of the head.
Hawat's jab looks to have found its range, popping Weight under the eye.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Weight misses with a jab to the body
and Hawat counters with a stiff right hand.
Oh Weight is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hawat thuds a left hand into Weight's body.
Weight seems to have got his legs back now.
Weight avoids the head kick by Hawat.
Weight on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Hawat scores with a jab to the jaw.
Hawat feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Weight sprawling to the canvas! Weight rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Hawat finish him?!
Welter Weight's cut is getting worse.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Weight leaves his chin hanging out and Hawat seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Weight crumbles to the floor in a heap, and the referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Thufir Hawat!
