Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Flo Holl (ranked 913 p4p, 547 weight class) and Liwa Kursiwa (ranked 101 p4p, 60 weight class). Flo Holl has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 14 - 2, fighting out of London, Flo Holl!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Liwa Kursiwa!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Percy O'Donnell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holl lands a leg kick that knocks Kursiwa off balance momentarily.
Holl looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Holl scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Kursiwa closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Holl is trying to get back to full guard.
Holl wants to control but Kursiwa is keeping busy.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kursiwa wants to take a breather but Holl is having none of it.

Kursiwa is working for a kimura but Holl is defending it quite comfortably.
Kursiwa slips a nice elbow through Holl's hands, connecting with Holl's forehead.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Holl has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Kursiwa seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Holl does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Kursiwa looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Holl with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Holl is not content to let Kursiwa control the position.
Holl wants to get back to full guard.
Holl is working hard here to advance position.

Holl is looking to regain half guard here but Kursiwa keeps moving and retains side control.

Kursiwa working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Holl takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Kursiwa controls the position.
Kursiwa scores with a couple of short elbows.
Holl tries to bench press Kursiwa off him but Kursiwa keeps the position.
Kursiwa lands some shots froms side control.
Holl is looking to reverse the position.

Holl is trying to get back to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Holl gets back to half guard.
Kursiwa has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Kursiwa counters with a single leg into guard. Holl didn't expect that.

Kursiwa throws out a loose jab but Holl uses good head movement to avoid it.

Kursiwa feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Holl tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Holl will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Holl wants to stand but Kursiwa is controlling the position.
Kursiwa cracks Holl with a solid left hand.
Kursiwa looking to pass the guard.
Holl is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Holl lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Kursiwa looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Kursiwa looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Holl loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Liwa Kursiwa has got the better of the ground game so far.

Holl got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kursiwa has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Holl has managed to get both his arms back between Kursiwa's legs - danger averted.
Holl postures up in Kursiwa's guard and throws a big left but Kursiwa blocks it.
Holl won't allow Kursiwa to get back to his feet.

Holl is fighting to break Kursiwa's control of his arms but Kursiwa is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Holl working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Kursiwa is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Kursiwa wants a takedown but no success here.
Holl tries a knee to the head but Kursiwa blocks it.
Kursiwa blocks an elbow strike.
Kursiwa has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Kursiwa is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Holl pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Kursiwa is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Holl can't fight it off and eventually Kursiwa manages to take the fight to the floor. Holl looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Holl is on top in guard.

Holl is looking to advance position but Kursiwa has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Holl tries to hold on but Kursiwa pushes him away.

Holl tries to kick Kursiwa off but Kursiwa keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Kursiwa content to control rather than advance.
Holl is trying to control but Kursiwa manages to pass to mount!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The referee warns Holl that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Liwa Kursiwa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Kursiwa tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Holl swivels and escapes.
Holl lands with a straight right. Kursiwa didn't see that one coming.
Kursiwa goes for a double leg but Holl avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Holl continues to drive forward.
Kursiwa will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Holl circles away from the clinch attempt
and Holl counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Kursiwa on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Holl is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nice body punch from Holl - that landed with a thud.

Kursiwa lands a left hand that snaps the head of Holl backwards.

Kursiwa is looking for a takedown.
Flo Holl has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Liwa Kursiwa.
Holl misses with a punch on the inside.

Holl swings away with an uppercut that misses.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Holl.
Kursiwa drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kursiwa has Holl pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Holl manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Holl using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Kursiwa has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Kursiwa has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Holl after a bit of a struggle.
Holl lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Holl tries to land a knee to the head but Kursiwa blocks with his arms.
Holl lands with a left to the head.
Kursiwa drops down looking for an ankle pick but Holl pulls his leg out and moves away.
Holl lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Kursiwa misses with a lunging right hand
and Holl counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Kursiwa thinking.

Holl throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Holl fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Kursiwa looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Kursiwa shoots in but no luck this time.
Holl is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Kursiwa wants to clinch up but Holl keeps it at a distance.
Holl buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Liwa Kursiwa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kursiwa throws a shot from downtown. Holl moves away and avoids it.
Holl scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Holl tries to clinch there but Kursiwa circles away.
Holl misses with a leg kick.
Holl misses with a body shot.
Kursiwa fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Holl misses with a hook. Kursiwa ducked under it nicely.

Holl clinches up with Kursiwa and pushes him back against the cage.
Kursiwa is looking to take this one to the mat.
Kursiwa can't get the takedown.
Kursiwa has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Holl seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Kursiwa can turn it around.
Kursiwa's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Holl pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kursiwa has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Holl is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Kursiwa has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Holl avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Kursiwa takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Holl drops Kursiwa with a big knee straight up the middle! Kursiwa is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!

Kursiwa is rocked!

It looks like Liwa Kursiwa has been cut.
Kursiwa is holding his hands too far apart here. Holl throws a hard, straight punch right down the pipe and BOOM! Kursiwa is out! That punch landed square on the jaw - what a shot!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:45 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Flo Holl!
