Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ian Carter (ranked 167 p4p, 383 weight class) and Jeffrey Tucker (ranked 27 p4p, 51 weight class). Carter comes into the arena with “Shipping up to Boston” Dropkick Murphy’s blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ian Carter! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jeffrey Tucker! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Franklyn Lucas and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No joy there for Carter, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Tucker throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Carter counters with a nice body shot. Tucker missing with a left hand there. Carter was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. It appears Carter was looking to counter with a kick there. Tucker misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
It looked like Carter wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Tucker moves away from the strike by Carter. Tucker throws a head kick but Carter moves out of range.
Carter swings away with a leg kick that misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tucker shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Tucker tries a head kick but it misses.
Tucker takes one on the chin but seems OK.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carter missing with a left hand there. Tucker was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Tucker throws a big counter head kick but Carter avoids it with no problem. A big left from Tucker misses. Tucker scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Carter doesn't seem bothered though. We've been told by Carter's head coaches at Ironbound MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Carter swings widly with a right hand
and Carter takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Carter misses with a body kick. Carter uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Tucker.
Tucker misses with a straight left. As Tucker backs away, Carter returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. Carter throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Tucker counters with a slapping leg kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carter keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Tucker. It looked like Carter wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Jeffrey Tucker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tucker scores with a head kick. Carter tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
It looks like Ian Carter has been cut. Carter fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Tucker let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Carter throws a body shot but no joy. Carter backing away here, and Tucker unleashes a leg kick that just misses. Carter misses with a body punch
and Tucker counters with a nice low kick that buckles Carter's knee momentarily. Carter stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Tucker. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Tucker ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Carter moves away. Carter throws a counter high kick but Tucker was just alert enough to avoid it. Tucker scores with a body shot.
Tucker misses with an uppercut. Carter saw that one coming. Carter is looking to counter punch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carter lands a jab to the head.
Carter will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Tucker throws a head kick that misses and Tucker takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Carter dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Tucker. That did some damage! Carter avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Sloppy strikes from Tucker. Those never looked like landing. Tucker misses with a looping right. Carter is looking to counter punch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A looping hook to the body misses from Carter. Tucker does a little dance to reset his feet. Carter moves out of range of the strikes. Tucker lands a nice hook to Carter's body. Carter takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Tucker drops Carter with a beautiful combination! Carter stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Tucker is looking for the KO!
Carter is rocked! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Carter switches off momentarily and Tucker cracks him with a monster right hand! Carter topples backwards and makes a semi conscious attempt to cover up, as Tucker dives in to land one more shot, before the referee has time to call the fight. What a finish by Tucker!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jeffrey Tucker! Jeffrey Tucker is the new welterweight champion!
