PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Richard Cheese (ranked 455 p4p, 817 weight class) and Grigori Golov (ranked 46 p4p, 78 weight class). Cheese comes to the cage accompanied by Rape Me. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Richard Cheese!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Grigori Golov!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Roger Salmon and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Golov swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Cheese counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Cheese keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Donk. Golov catches Cheese right on the button with a cross.
Golov tries to move into range but Cheese moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Good standup being displayed there by Golov as he connects with a hook.
Cheese gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Golov working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Cheese has control of Golov's left arm, preventing Golov from doing any damage.
Golov is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Golov wants to control from the top but Cheese keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Golov stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Cheese has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Golov manages to get his head free but now Cheese has transitioned to an armbar! Golov grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Cheese! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Richard Cheese!
A very excited looking Richard Cheese made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
