Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jacinto Cruz (ranked 1017 p4p, 1114 weight class) and Topf Deckel (ranked 113 p4p, 45 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jacinto Cruz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Topf Deckel!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz tests Deckel's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Cruz buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Deckel gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Cruz tries to land a leg kick but Deckel saw it coming and moves away.
Cruz throws a leg kick that misses.
Deckel appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Cruz paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Cruz throws a hook but Deckel blocks it.

Cruz throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Deckel stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Cruz tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Deckel manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Deckel now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Deckel fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cruz manages to avoid it.
Cruz missing with a left hand there. Deckel was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
The crowd cheers as Cruz lands an impressive looking overhand right. Deckel doesn't seem phased though.
Cruz closes the distance and clinches.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cruz misses with a hook from the clinch.
Cruz manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Deckel sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cruz's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Cruz tries to roll over but Deckel keeps him under control.
Deckel seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cruz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Deckel is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Cruz is staying active underneath Deckel, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Cruz moves in looking to clinch but Deckel pushes him off.
Deckel takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Cruz ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Cruz no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Deckel passes Cruz's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Deckel is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Cruz reverses the position - he's now on top in Deckel's guard.

Our spies down at at MMA Training and Sparring Buddies inform us that Deckel has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Deckel avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Deckel wants to counter with a clinch but Cruz pushes him away.

A nice leg kick lands there from Cruz.
Deckel throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cruz was covering up waiting for the punch and Deckel finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Deckel goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Cruz rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Deckel's guard! Nice work there by Cruz!
Deckel is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Deckel tries to pass the half guard into mount. Cruz knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cruz is on top in guard.

Deckel has his foot on Cruz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cruz works his way back into a safe position though.
Deckel has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cruz can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Deckel isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Cruz stacks Deckel on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Cruz!

Cruz's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jacinto Cruz will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jacinto Cruz.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cruz, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
