The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Thomas misses.
Thomas looks to score with a jab to the body but Hightower is just out of range.
Derrick Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A jab lands there for Hightower.
It looks like Derrick Thomas has been cut.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Hightower checks a leg kick.
Hightower is looking to counter punch.
Thomas throws a body shot but no joy.

Hightower connects with a right hand. Thomas shakes it off.
Thomas displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hightower throws out the jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Thomas takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Crunch! Hightower slams his shin into Thomas 's torso.

Hightower avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Hightower cracks Thomas with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Thomas looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Hightower finish him?
Thomas is rocked!
Thomas leaves his chin hanging out and Hightower seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Thomas crumbles to the floor in a heap, and the referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
