Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Donovan Lang!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burgess lands with a nice body punch.
Lang throws a big shot that misses.
Lang will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Lang misses with a jab, cross combination.
Lang connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Sloppy strikes from Lang. Those never looked like landing.
Lang misses with a body shot
and Burgess counters with a stiff right hand.
Lang misses with a body shot.
Burgess was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Lang misses the jab.
Burgess ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lang moves away.
Lang throws a lazy uppercut
and Burgess counters with a left to the body.
Lang throws a hook but Burgess blocks it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Burgess misses with a looping right.
Lang lands an overhand right.
Burgess avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Burgess feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Lang sprawling to the canvas! Lang rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Burgess finish him?!
Nice defenses there by Burgess.
Burgess takes a swing at Lang's ribcage but misses.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Burgess has Lang pressed against the cage, preventing Lang from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Burgess wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Burgess ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Lang's jaw. Lang's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Burgess does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Axton Burgess!
