Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Khalil Burnett (ranked 508 p4p, 1150 weight class) and Kodiyak Redd (ranked 21 p4p, 45 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Khalil Burnett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kodiyak Redd!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Percy O'Donnell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut lands for Redd. That snapped Burnett's head back.
A telegraphed right hand from Burnett misses the target.
Burnett looks to throw the jab but Redd is out of range.
Burnett ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Redd moves away.

Burnett gets caught napping as Redd dives in and scores a takedown. Burnett manages to retain guard.
Redd stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Burnett swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Redd trying to control the position from guard on top but Burnett is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Redd with a flurry of punches that miss.
Burnett is adopting a defensive guard.
Redd pushes down on Burnett's leg and manages to get into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Redd trying to mount his opponent but Burnett defends it.
Redd wants to lay and pray for a moment but Burnett keeps working.
Burnett wants to get back to full guard.
Burnett keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Burnett is holding on to half guard well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Burnett is not content to let Redd control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Redd takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Burnett is not content to let Redd control the position.
Redd throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Burnett is refusing to be controlled, as Redd sits in half guard.
Redd sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Burnett defending well though.
Burnett blocking the ground and pound attempt from Redd.
Redd not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Redd is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Burnett doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Redd.
Redd is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Burnett reverses the position - he's now on top in Redd's guard.

Redd has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Burnett can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Redd is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Redd is looking to sweep but instead, Burnett has passed into half guard.
Redd is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Redd works his way to full guard. Good work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Redd throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Burnett is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Redd has his foot on Burnett's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Burnett works his way back into a safe position though.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kodiyak Redd dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Redd keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Redd connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Burnett momentarily.
Redd tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Burnett was well out of range. Poor timing from Redd.
Burnett throwing a counter right hand but Redd manages to avoid it.
Burnett throws a big shot that misses.
Redd appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Redd swings for the body but Burnett moves out of range.
Redd uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Burnett.
Redd goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Redd throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Redd fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Burnett manages to avoid it.
An attempted straight right counter from Burnett misses the target.
Redd throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Burnett's waist but Burnett gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Redd off to one side.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A swing and a miss from Burnett.
Burnett misses with an uppercut. Redd saw that one coming.
Burnett rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Redd counters with a slapping leg kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Redd. Burnett does a little dance to reset his feet.
Redd steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Burnett.
Redd fails to land the takedown.
Redd moves away from the strike by Burnett.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A left lands for Redd.
Redd misses with a lunging right hand
and Burnett counters with a nice uppercut.
Redd slips a straight right by Burnett.
Burnett takes a shot right to the bread basket.
A telegraphed right hand from Burnett misses the target.
A countering left hand to the body from Redd misses.
A big left from Burnett misses.
Redd feints a counter leg kick.
Burnett misses with an uppercut.
Burnett misses with a body shot.
A big right from Burnett misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Burnett waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Redd.
Burnett looks to land a right hand but Redd moved out of range.
Redd fails with a takedown attempt.
Khalil Burnett has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kodiyak Redd.
Redd bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Redd throws out a counter right but Burnett avoids it with no problem.
A jab from Redd does it's job there.

Redd gets the takedown into side control.
Burnett prevents Redd from moving into mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Redd lands a few punches from side control.
Burnett knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Redd on the ground.
Redd is working Burnett over with some ground and pound from side control.
Burnett wants to control but Redd postures up.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Redd working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
An elbow from Redd crashes against the mat.
Redd working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Redd has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Redd landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Redd moves into full mount!
Redd throws some wild stikes that Burnett manages to avoid easily.
Burnett tries to hold on but Redd postures up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kodiyak Redd showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

A lazy left from Burnett finds it's target.
Kodiyak Redd is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Redd moves out of range of the strikes.
Burnett throws an overhand right that drops Redd like a sack of potatoes! Burnett dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:26 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Khalil Burnett!
