Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Keisuke Matsuzaka (ranked 20 p4p, 65 weight class) and Mason Jones (ranked 3 p4p, 11 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 46 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Keisuke Matsuzaka!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mason Jones!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Paulo Santos and Edson Gomes.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matsuzaka throws a looping overhand right but Jones ducks down to avoid it.
Matsuzaka swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Jones let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Matsuzaka misses with a hook

and Jones counters by moving into the clinch.
Matsuzaka looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Jones putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Matsuzaka in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Matsuzaka misses with the head strike.
I was talking to Matsuzaka's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Matsuzaka breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jones misses with a wild body shot.
Matsuzaka avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Matsuzaka throws an off balance right hand
and Jones counters with a straight right hand.

It looks like Keisuke Matsuzaka has been cut.
Matsuzaka throws a body punch but Jones moves out of range.
Jones has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Matsuzaka is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Jones missing with a left hand there. Matsuzaka was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Matsuzaka counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Matsuzaka waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Jones.

Matsuzaka was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jones works the jab nicely.
Jones throws a right and a left that Matsuzaka avoids nicely.
Jones lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Matsuzaka throws a good cross that connects.
Jones dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Matsuzaka. That did some damage!

Matsuzaka connects with a body shot that sends Jones's belly button to the back.
Jones ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Matsuzaka moves away.
Matsuzaka with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Jones to score with a decent uppercut.
Keisuke Matsuzaka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Matsuzaka thows a left - swing and a miss!
A nice inside leg kick there by Jones. That's going to slow Matsuzaka down.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Jones tries to clinch there but Matsuzaka circles away.

and Matsuzaka counters with a straight right hand.
Matsuzaka takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Jones cracks Matsuzaka with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Jones has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Matsuzaka to stand back up!

Matsuzaka is rocked!

Jones clinches up with Matsuzaka and pushes him back against the cage.
Matsuzaka misses with a punch on the inside.
Matsuzaka lands a shot to the body.
Matsuzaka scores with a shoulder strike.
Matsuzaka creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Jones's defenses.
Matsuzaka throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Jones lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.

Matsuzaka escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jones wants to clinch
and Matsuzaka counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Jones closes the distance looking to clinch
and Matsuzaka counters with a three punch combo that has Jones backing up. Jones nods at Matsuzaka to acknowledge the strikes.

Jones throws a big shot that misses.
Both fighters circling a little - Matsuzaka finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Matsuzaka throws a quick inside leg kick.
Matsuzaka misses with a hook
and Jones counters with a slapping leg kick.
Left hook, right uppercut from Matsuzaka.
Jones takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Jones misses with a lunging right hand
and Matsuzaka counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Jones thinking.
Matsuzaka moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Matsuzaka takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Matsuzaka throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Matsuzaka misses the jab.
Jones swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Matsuzaka.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Jones sends Matsuzaka crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Jones is motioning to the referee to let Matsuzaka up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Oh Matsuzaka is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Matsuzaka misses with a looping right.
Jones fakes the body blow, causing Matsuzaka to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Matsuzaka goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!
