Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nicholas McDonald!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Dean Styles and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tartakov lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
McDonald moves away from the strike by Tartakov.
McDonald uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Tartakov.
Nice shot lands for Tartakov.
Tartakov misses with a double jab.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from McDonald! But no joy.
Tartakov takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
McDonald tries a head kick but it misses.
A chopping leg kick lands by Tartakov.
Tartakov fakes high and swings low for a body shot but McDonald manages to avoid it.
Tartakov looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
McDonald throws a big shot that misses.
A looping hook to the body misses from Tartakov. McDonald does a little dance to reset his feet.
McDonald rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Tartakov counters with a two punch combo.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McDonald scores with a head kick. Tartakov tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Tartakov fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. McDonald looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Tartakov lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Tartakov swings and misses with a hook to the body.
McDonald throws a looping overhand right but Tartakov ducks down to avoid it.
Tartakov jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Tartakov misses with a low kick.
McDonald tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Tartakov throws a jab when McDonald was well out of range.
McDonald tries to move into range but Tartakov moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Tartakov drives through with a takedown into McDonald's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Tartakov won't allow McDonald to get back to his feet.
McDonald keeping moving, preventing Tartakov from controlling successfully.

McDonald is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Tartakov throwing strikes but missing.
Tartakov prevents McDonald from getting back to his feet.
Tartakov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McDonald swivels though and keeps the full guard.

McDonald has momentary wrist control but Tartakov slips an elbow through the middle.
Tartakov lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
McDonald really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tartakov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
McDonald wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Tartakov manages to pass to side control.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

McDonald tries to get to full guard but Tartakov has control of the leg.
Tartakov wants to pass to mount but McDonald is defending the position.
Tartakov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
McDonald wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tartakov passes to full mount!
Tartakov can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as McDonald is looking to escape.

Tartakov is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Tartakov trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Tartakov avoids the attempt from McDonald to control.
Tartakov lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
McDonald's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
McDonald is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Tartakov's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
McDonald takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Tartakov rushes McDonald and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Tartakov fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Tartakov has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. McDonald avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Tartakov tried to land a shot to the body but connects with McDonald's elbow.
Tartakov is struggling to control the position.
McDonald's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Tartakov moves forwards but McDonald connects with a nice, crisp jab.
A low kick lands for Tartakov.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McDonald throws out a counter right but Tartakov avoids it with no problem.

and McDonald cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Tartakov digs a good hook to McDonald's body.
Old Leg Tartakov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McDonald throws a good cross that connects.
Tartakov takes a swing at McDonald's ribcage but misses.
McDonald throws out a counter right but Tartakov avoids it with no problem.

and McDonald counters with a nice uppercut.
Tartakov is rocked!
Nicholas McDonald is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Tartakov glances at the clock... BAM! McDonald nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Tartakov crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Tartakov is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!
