PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Leonard Nimoy (ranked 1051 p4p, 629 weight class) and Journey Sky (ranked 137 p4p, 86 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Journey Sky!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Aafke Stam and Albert Achterberg.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good standup being displayed there by Nimoy as he connects with a hook.
Nimoy slips under a jab.
Sky misses with a body punch
and Nimoy counters with a nice low kick that buckles Sky's knee momentarily.
Sky looks to land a right hand but Nimoy moved out of range.
It looked like Nimoy was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Nimoy cracks a nice hook into Sky's ribs.
Nimoy blocks a jab.
Nimoy throws a series of punches but Sky moves out of range.
Sky fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

It looks like Leonard Nimoy has been cut.
Sky has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Sky slips a jab and a cross from Nimoy.
Sky scores with a jab to the body.
Sky misses with a left hand
and Nimoy counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nimoy takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Nimoy misses the shot to the body.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Nimoy, as that shot connected.
Nimoy darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Nimoy with a hook.
Sky lands a body shot.
Sky misses with a straight right.
Sky lands a glancing blow to the side of Nimoy's head.
A slow jab from Sky misses its intended target.
Sky lands a nice looking body shot.
Sky lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sky throws an overhand right that lands on Nimoy's shoulder, as Nimoy tries to avoid the shot.
Nimoy was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Sky's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Nimoy connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Sky scrambles back to his feet.
Sky throws a hook but Nimoy avoids it easily.
Nimoy is looking for a counter combo.
A big right from Sky misses.
Nimoy will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Nimoy with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Sky to score with a decent uppercut.
Nimoy on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Nimoy pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
A little jabbing left from Sky on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Nimoy misses with a wild body shot.
Nimoy throws a body shot but no joy.

Nimoy takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Nimoy steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Sky.
Nimoy was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Nimoy gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Sky gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Journey Sky!
A relieved looking Journey Sky thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
