Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jonas Karlsson (ranked 120 p4p, 215 weight class) and Ty Vanorden (ranked 15 p4p, 23 weight class). Vanorden has chosen UP UP & AWAY as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vanorden scores with a hook to the body. Karlsson takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Vanorden throws a hook but Karlsson blocks it.
Karlsson throws a right hand that misses
and Vanorden counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Karlsson moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

It seemed like Vanorden was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Karlsson darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Karlsson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Vanorden fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Jonas Karlsson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Karlsson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Vanorden uses from the top position.

It looks like Jonas Karlsson has been cut.
A punch lands to the side of Vanorden 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Karlsson cracks Vanorden with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Vanorden looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Karlsson finish him?

Vanorden is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Vanorden drops his hands momentarily. Karlsson doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Vanorden staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Vanorden doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.
