Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 18 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Stoner Steve!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gwynn Evans!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steve lands a nice hook to Evans's body. Evans takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
The fight stays on the outside here - Steve looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Evans scores with a hook.
Steve tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Evans was well out of range. Poor timing from Steve.
Evans is trying to counter with his kicks.
Evans looks to land a left hand but Steve moved out of range nicely.
Steve takes a jab right on the kisser.
Steve takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Evans uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Steve.

Evans takes a swing at Steve's ribcage but misses.
It looked like Steve wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Steve has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Steve throws out a loose jab but Evans uses good head movement to avoid it.
Evans appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Evans shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Steve throws a predictable looking body shot
and Evans counters with a thumping low kick.

Steve keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

enabling Evans to counter with a crisp jab.
Evans has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Steve blocks a leg kick.
An attempted straight right counter from Steve misses the target.
Steve gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Steve misses with an uppercut
and Evans counters with a nice uppercut.
Evans is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Steve had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
Evans uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Steve.
Despite the aggression on Evans's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

The fighters circling - Steve throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Evans was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Steve gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Steve misses with a hook
and Evans counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Steve throws a right hand that misses
and Evans counters with a nice uppercut.
Evans uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Steve.
Evans throws a lazy body kick
and Steve counters with a straight right hand.
Evans blocks a jab.
Steve rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Evans moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Steve. Evans does a little dance to reset his feet.
A nice leg kick from Evans, right into the meat of the thigh.
Evans lands a nice leg kick that just misses Steve's sensitive parts.

Evans moves away from the strike by Steve.
Evans ducks under a wild hook from Steve.
Steve moves into range and connects with a jab.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Evans with a nice calf kick.
An inside leg kick lands from Evans.
Evans throws a head kick but Steve moves out of range.
Steve connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Evans momentarily.
Steve throws a body punch but Evans moves out of range.
Evans ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Steve moves away.
Steve misses with a right hand
and Evans counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Gwynn Evans dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Evans is looking to slow Steve down with leg kicks.
This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Steve might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.
Nice shot lands for Steve.
Steve has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Evans.
Steve throws a poor cross that misses
and Evans counters with a nice body kick.
Evans with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Evans fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Evans takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice uppercut lands for Evans. That snapped Steve's head back.
Steve misses with a left hand
and Evans counters with a body kick.
Evans throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Steve dips to his left and cracks Evans with an uppercut!
That kick from Evans tenderised Steve's leg. Steve is trying to keep his angry face on.
Steve jabs Evans to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Good standup being displayed there by Steve as he connects with a hook.
Steve throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Evans sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Evans fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Steve is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Evans connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Steve momentarily.
Evans swings widly with a right hand
and Steve counters with a left to the body.
Evans is breathing heavily.
Steve's corner calls for a 1-2. Steve obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Steve pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Steve connects with the punch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Steve checks a low kick from Evans.
Steve misses the shot to the body.
Steve connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Steve throws a monster overhand right that drops Evans! Steve follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!
