Santos is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by DMX - Intro. Kado Akiyama could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Michel Santos's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kado Akiyama!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michel Santos!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yukihiro Shimada and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos connects with a right hand. Akiyama shakes it off.
Santos changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Akiyama tries to avoid it but Santos manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Akiyama to the ground. Akiyama escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Santos fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Santos looks to land a combination but Akiyama avoids it well.

It looks like Michel Santos has been cut.
Kado Akiyama has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michel Santos.

Akiyama looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Santos shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Akiyama manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Akiyama has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Santos throws a body punch but Akiyama moves out of range.
Santos tries to work over Akiyama's front leg with a kick but Akiyama checks it.
Santos lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Akiyama circles away quickly and effectively.

Akiyama gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Santos to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Santos throws a strike but Akiyama rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Santos is controlling Akiyama's posture.
Santos wants to control but Akiyama passes easily into half guard.
Santos tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Akiyama has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Santos is desperately trying to improve his position but Akiyama has a good base and remains in mount.

Santos tries to hold on but Akiyama pushes him away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Akiyama wants to control the pace but Santos is squirming around nicely.
Santos is trying to reverse the position but instead Akiyama has taken his back - oops!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kado Akiyama will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Michel Santos's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Santos paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Santos fails to land the takedown.
Santos lands with a shot to the body.
Santos with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Santos looks to land a right hand but Akiyama moved out of range.
A little feinted left hand from Akiyama on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

A swing and a miss from Akiyama.
Akiyama throws a hook to the side of Santos's head but Santos sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
As Akiyama backs off Santos throws a huge counter combo but Akiyama manages to avoid it all.
Santos moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Santos throws a nice inside leg kick.
Kado Akiyama is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Akiyama takes a shot to the body in his stride.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Santos is looking to chop away at Akiyama's legs.
Santos lands a nice leg kick that just misses Akiyama's sensitive parts.
Santos scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Akiyama leaves Santos with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Santos takes a swing at Akiyama's ribcage but misses.
Akiyama looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Santos throws a body shot but no joy.
Santos fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Akiyama avoids it really well and circles away.
Kado Akiyama has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michel Santos.

Santos dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Michel Santos is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Santos swings away with a body shot that misses
and Akiyama counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Santos throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Akiyama on the side of the head.
Santos throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Akiyama feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Santos sprawling to the canvas! Santos rolls over backwards and springs off the ropes and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Akiyama finish him?!

This has been an exciting period of action!
Santos gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Akiyama counters with a beautiful right hand that knocks Santos out cold! What a finish! Akiyama is going crazy, running around the mat, summersaulting off the corner posts and screaming into the cameras. Something tells me he's pretty happy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:16 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Kado Akiyama!
Kado Akiyama seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
