PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Abel Hug (ranked 607 p4p, 686 weight class) and Arthur Pugsley (ranked 59 p4p, 67 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Arthur Pugsley was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Abel Hug!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Arthur Pugsley!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hug's corner calls for a 1-2. Hug obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Hug has been working on his boxing with his coaches at New York Public Gym in the buildup to the fight.
Pugsley takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Pugsley.

Pugsley ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Pugsley no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

And Pugsley tries to counter it with a takedown but Hug pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Abel Hug seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Pugsley is working for a kimura but Hug is defending it quite comfortably.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Pugsley working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hug bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pugsley's guard.

Hug goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Hug.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pugsley connects with a nice short shot to Hug's temple.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hug seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hug, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
