Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between AJ Brown (ranked 126 p4p, 325 weight class) and Daniel Spong (ranked 21 p4p, 46 weight class). Brown comes to the cage accompanied by Ace Hood - Undefeated. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 26 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, AJ Brown! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 25 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daniel Spong! The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paulsen Ambrosius and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brown lands a jab. Spong lands a head shot. Brown on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Spong connects with a good right hand that stumbles Brown. Brown circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Brown looks to land a body kick but Spong moved away. Brown throws a looping overhand right but Spong ducks down to avoid it. Brown blocks a jab. A decent looking cross lands there for Spong. Spong throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Brown on the side of the head. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Spong has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Spong shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Brown sprawls well. Brown wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Spong gets slowly back to his feet. Brown throws a hook but Spong blocks it. Spong shoots in but no luck this time. Brown slips a jab from Spong. Brown getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
That's one minute gone in the round. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Spong is defended easily by Brown. AJ Brown has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Spong. Spong lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Brown jabs Spong to the body, keeping him at a distance. Spong catches Brown with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Brown fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Spong checks it well. Brown ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Spong moves away. A telegraphed right hand from Brown misses the target. Spong looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Brown is fending him off so far but Spong persists. Nope, Brown circles away and we're back to standing. Brown ducks under a wild hook from Spong. An attempted straight right counter from Brown misses the target. Spong swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Brown gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Brown misses the shot to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brown jabbing away but nothing is landing. Spong gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Brown counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Spong is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Brown had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush. Spong shoots in looking for a takedown but Brown manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Spong's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Brown throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Spong. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Spong has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Brown. Spong throws a poor cross that misses
enabling Brown to counter with a crisp jab. A big right from Brown misses. Spong tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Spong throws a jab when Brown was well out of range. No luck for Spong with that takedown attempt. Brown uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Spong. It looked like Brown was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Spong. Spong shoots for a double leg takedown but Brown sprawls well. He's pushed Spong's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Brown looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger. Brown with the inside leg kick. Spong jabbing away but nothing is landing.

and Brown makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Brown slips a straight right by Spong. Brown fakes the leg kick and cracks Spong in the body. Daniel Spong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Spong shoots for a double leg takedown but Brown sprawls well. He's pushed Spong's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Spong shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Brown but Brown pushes him off and we're back to square one. Brown pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Spong might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Brown swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Spong takes a shot right to the bread basket. Brown moves forwards but Spong connects with a nice, crisp jab. Spong swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Brown throws a nice looking combination but Spong bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Spong changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Brown throws a nice inside leg kick. Spong's jab looks to have found its range, popping Brown under the eye. Spong misses with a combination
and Brown counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brown uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A nice leg kick lands there from Brown. Spong shoots in and drives through. Brown sprawls well. Spong shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Spong keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Brown. Spong throws a lazy right hand but Brown sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Brown quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect. Brown looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Brown uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Spong. Jab, jab by Spong - just one landing. Brown connects with a leg kick. Brown bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Spong's head backwards. Nice defenses there by Brown. Brown throws a low kick but Spong avoids it. Spong throws a poor cross that misses
and Brown counters with a low kick, right behind Spong 's knee. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
AJ Brown dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Spong with a lazy takedown attempt and Brown cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Brown misses with the combination.

Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with each other but Spong might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Brown has got the better of the exchanges. Spong throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Spong throws an off balance right hand
and Brown connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Spong lands the left hand. Spong swings for the body but Brown moves out of range.
Spong cracks Brown with a right hand to the side of the head. Spong checks a leg kick nicely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Spong swings and misses with a shot to the body and Brown counters with a body kick. Brown lands with a right hand. Spong jabs Brown right on the nose. Brown blinks but takes it well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Brown is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Spong is trying to control the position but Brown postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Spong isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Brown stacks Spong on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Brown! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Spong is trying to improve his position. Spong closes the distance and clinches up with Brown, looking for a takedown. Spong pushes Brown against the cage but Brown circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Spong gets cracked there but stands up to it.

And that's the end of the fight! AJ Brown showed his dominance in that final round. Well Brown has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
