Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Breno Belmiro (ranked 394 p4p, 2027 weight class) and Michel Santos (ranked 40 p4p, 177 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Santos's choice of entrance music: DMX - Intro. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 10 - 3 - 1, fighting out of New York, Breno Belmiro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 19 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michel Santos! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Alexandre Firmino and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santos uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Belmiro. Santos swings for the body but Belmiro moves out of range.
Belmiro shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Santos as he jumps to the side. Belmiro bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Santos's head. Santos works over Belmiro's head and body with a nice combination. Santos lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Santos lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Belmiro backs up against the cage.
It looks like Breno Belmiro has been cut. Belmiro checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Santos jabbing away but nothing is landing. Michel Santos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Santos bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Belmiro's head backwards. Belmiro looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A telegraphed right hand from Belmiro misses the target. Santos misses with an uppercut. Belmiro saw that one coming. Belmiro tests Santos's chin there with a solid looking shot. Good shot there by Santos.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santos fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Belmiro to the ground. Santos is now in Belmiro's guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Santos wants to control from the top but Belmiro keeps moving. Santos is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Santos with a flurry of punches that miss. Belmiro looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Belmiro throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Santos scoring with some ground and pound. Santos throwing strikes from guard but Belmiro blocks nicely. Belmiro wants to sweep but no luck. Santos controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Belmiro is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santos missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Santos trying to move into half guard but instead Belmiro has managed to sweep! Belmiro preventing the sweep. Belmiro trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Belmiro slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Santos tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Belmiro wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Belmiro sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Santos is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Belmiro is trying to get an arm triangle but Santos is defending well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Santos tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Belmiro wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Belmiro working the ground and pound. Belmiro lands a decent elbow from side control. Belmiro scores with punches from side control. Belmiro has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Santos wants to control but Belmiro postures up. Belmiro landing strikes. Santos takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Santos is rocked! Belmiro working the body and head with strikes. Santos is still in real trouble! Can Belmiro finish him? The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Belmiro scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Santos is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Belmiro can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Breno Belmiro!
