Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nick Durling (ranked 480 p4p, 519 weight class) and Cathal Doherty (ranked 58 p4p, 64 weight class). Durling's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, BABYMETAL - KARATE. Doherty has chosen Jeremy- Pearl Jam as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nick Durling!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cathal Doherty!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Durling uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Doherty.
A low kick from Doherty misses

and Durling decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Doherty's guard.
Doherty is wriggling around but Durling manages to pass to half guard.

Durling is keen to just control but Doherty is a slippery customer.
Durling trying to pass the guard but Doherty defending well.

Durling is looking for a kimura but Doherty is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Durling to get the leverage.
Durling thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Doherty's head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Durling is trying a forearm choke� I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Doherty is defending against the submission attempts here by Durling.

Durling swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Doherty is now in Durling's guard. A big mistake from Durling there, giving up the dominant position!
Durling wants to sweep here but Doherty controlling him for the moment.
Doherty must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Durling is controlling Doherty's posture.

Durling has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Doherty can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Durling isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Doherty stacks Durling on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Doherty!

and Durling counters with a nice double leg into side control. Doherty won't be happy with that.

Durling wants to take a breather but Doherty manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Durling.
Durling working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Durling wants to control from the top but Doherty keeps moving.

Durling is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Doherty defends well.

Durling is trying to control but can't.
Durling is pressing down on Doherty's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Doherty wants to get up but he can't break Durling's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Durling throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Doherty escapes and throws Durling's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Durling manages to work his way to half guard, despite Doherty's best efforts.
Doherty tries to stand and escape but Durling is controlling the position.
Durling makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Durling.
Durling bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Doherty's guard.

Durling wants to control from the top but Doherty keeps moving.
Durling lands a couple of digs.

Durling is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Durling is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Doherty is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Doherty has escaped and now he's on top!

Doherty really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Durling. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Durling pulls Doherty in close to his closed guard and prevents Doherty from doing any damage or advancing position.

Cathal Doherty showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Durling's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Durling is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Doherty looks calm but he's in trouble here. Durling gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Doherty is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Durling lets go of the hold and Doherty can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Nick Durling!
Our winner, Nick Durling, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
