Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lew Alcindor (ranked 524 p4p, 212 weight class) and Seamus O Brien (ranked 73 p4p, 30 weight class). O Brien has chosen Pantera - The Great Southern Trendkill as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lew Alcindor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 12 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Seamus O Brien!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Edson Gomes and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
O Brien throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
O Brien jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Alcindor wants to clinch.
O Brien swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Alcindor drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
O Brien is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
O Brien breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
O Brien uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Alcindor.
O Brien feints a counter leg kick.
Alcindor closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. O Brien quickly recovers to half guard.
O Brien manages to escape and get back to his feet!
We've been informed that O Brien has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

The crowd cheers as O Brien lands an impressive looking overhand right. Alcindor doesn't seem phased though.
Alcindor ducks under a wild hook from O Brien.
Alcindor quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
O Brien with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Alcindor dodges the punch combination from O Brien.
Alcindor shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts O Brien as he jumps to the side.
O Brien connects with a leg kick.
No joy there for Alcindor, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Alcindor takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

O Brien throws a jab when Alcindor was well out of range.
Alcindor pulls out of a head kick attempt.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from O Brien! But no joy.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Alcindor.
Alcindor misses with a double jab
and O Brien counters with a nice right hand that sends Alcindor toppling to the canvas! Alcindor scrambles and gets back to his feet - can O Brien finish him?!
It looks like Lew Alcindor has been cut.
O Brien punishes Alcindor's body with a nice straight punch.
Alcindor feints and as O Brien raises his hands in defense, Alcindor changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as O Brien holds on and takes a little breather.
O Brien keeping moving, preventing Alcindor from controlling successfully.

O Brien wants to stand but Alcindor is controlling the position.
Alcindor working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
O Brien can't keep his opponent in guard - Alcindor advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Alcindor connects with a nice short shot to O Brien's temple.
O Brien wants to get back to full guard.
Alcindor not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Alcindor trying to control the action but O Brien is working from the bottom.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
O Brien tries to get to full guard but Alcindor has control of the leg.
Alcindor is trying to control the action in half guard but O Brien is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Alcindor has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
O Brien wants to get back to full guard but Alcindor has mounted him!

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Alcindor looks to score with a jab to the body but O Brien is just out of range.
Alcindor looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
O Brien steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Lew Alcindor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

O Brien breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Crack! A monster head kick from O Brien and Alcindor falls like a tree - timbeeeeeeeeeeerrrr! A highlight reel knockout by O Brien!

Seamus O Brien bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
