PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wille Thai (ranked 327 p4p, 124 weight class) and AJ Brown (ranked 46 p4p, 18 weight class). Brown is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Ace Hood - Undefeated. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 37 - 25 - 0, fighting out of London, Wille Thai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, AJ Brown!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Albert Achterberg and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Thai drops down looking for a counter takedown but Brown sprawls and moves away.

Thai rushes Brown and presses him up against the cage.

Thai wants to take the fight to the mat but Brown manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
We've been hearing reports that Thai has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Brown really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Thai. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Thai postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Brown is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Thai, into his guard.

Thai is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Brown still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Brown has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Thai shoots for a double leg takedown but Brown sprawls well. He's pushed Thai's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Brown felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
