Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Santiago Santos (ranked 157 p4p, 258 weight class) and Surkho Dratchev (ranked 24 p4p, 38 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Dratchev's choice of entrance music: Schweine by Glukoza Nostra. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Santiago Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Surkho Dratchev!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Edson Gomes and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dratchev throws a head kick that half lands.

It looks like Santiago Santos has been cut.
Dratchev misses with a hook
and Santos connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

It looks like Surkho Dratchev has been cut.
Dratchev misses with a shot to the body
and Santos counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Surkho Dratchev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Santos avoids the head kick by Dratchev.
Dratchev has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Dratchev misses the body punch
and Santos counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Santos gets caught flat footed, as Dratchev shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Dratchev passes easily into side control. Nice work.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Dratchev thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Santos is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Dratchev is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Santos knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Santos parries the strikes from Dratchev easily there. Dratchev is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Santos to escape.

Dratchev is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Santos has escaped the position, nice work there.
Dratchev is looking to take a break and control but Santos is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Dratchev tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dratchev has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Dratchev goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Santos has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Dratchev but great work by Santos.
Dratchev manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Dratchev is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Santos sees it coming and defends easily.
Santos is not content to let Dratchev control the position.

Dratchev postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Santos to stand up.
Dratchev pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Dratchev lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Dratchev with a poor takedown
and Santos counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Dratchev will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Santos was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Dratchev bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Santos's head backwards.
Dratchev throws a low kick but Santos avoids it.
Santos quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Dratchev misses with a head kick.
Dratchev looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Dratchev misses with a combination
and Santos counters with a flying knee. Nice.

A good leg kick by Dratchev.
No luck for Dratchev with that takedown attempt.
Santos is looking to counter punch.
Dratchev misses with a combination
and Santos counters with a head kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dratchev shoots in for a takedown but Santos shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Santos tried to counter with a leg kick but Dratchev avoided it.
Santiago Santos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Surkho Dratchev.
Santos is looking to clinch.

Dratchev throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Santos finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Dratchev looks winded!

Santos cracks Dratchev with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Dratchev looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away� can Santos finish him?

and Santos counters with a hugh head kick that removes Dratchev from consiousness! A brutal head kick knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Santiago Santos!
Surkho Dratchev was interviewed post fight and said 'Pass Vodka. Nostrovia!'.
