PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Doric Dienekes (ranked 175 p4p, 167 weight class) and Jack Cango (ranked 26 p4p, 24 weight class). Cango comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Into Action by Tim Armstrong kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Jack Cango has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Doric Dienekes's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Doric Dienekes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Cango!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dienekes moves out of range as Cango strikes.
Dienekes changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Cango tries to grapple but his opponent circles

so Dienekes counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Dienekes stops Cango from standing up.
Cango is wriggling around but Dienekes manages to pass to half guard.
Dienekes wants to control but Cango is keeping him busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cango has hold of Dienekes's hands but Dienekes slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Dienekes throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dienekes content to control rather than advance.
Cango really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dienekes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Dienekes seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Cango fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Dienekes manages to avoid it.

Cango fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Dienekes.
Dienekes has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Cango has closed the distance and engaged Dienekes in a clinch.
Dienekes is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Cango to keep the fight standing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cango wants to get back to his feet but Dienekes is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Cango can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Dienekes controls the pace.

That was a close round but I would say that Doric Dienekes will probably get the nod.

Dienekes is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Cango has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Cango!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dienekes, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
