Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Frank Hernandez (ranked 131 p4p, 489 weight class) and Peter Gretel (ranked 8 p4p, 48 weight class). Hernandez comes to the cage accompanied by Journey - Only The Young. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Frank Hernandez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Peter Gretel!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hernandez moves away from the strike by Gretel.
Gretel throws out a loose jab but Hernandez uses good head movement to avoid it.
Hernandez drops down looking for a counter takedown but Gretel sprawls and moves away.
Gretel throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Gretel fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hernandez manages to avoid it.
Hernandez changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Gretel misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hernandez.

and Hernandez counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Hernandez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Gretel manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Hernandez tries to pull guard but Gretel holds him up against the cage and eventually Hernandez drops back down to his feet.
Gretel tries to work over Hernandez's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Hernandez ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hernandez no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gretel tries to free his leg and advance position but Hernandez is retaining full guard.

Hernandez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gretel can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Gretel is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Hernandez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hernandez wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Hernandez remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

That was a close second round but I would say that Frank Hernandez will probably get the nod.

Hernandez looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gretel with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Hernandez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gretel does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

And that's the end of the fight!
