PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Choke (ranked 175 p4p, 232 weight class) and Kaarlo Susi (ranked 23 p4p, 36 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 40 - 25 - 1, fighting out of London, David Choke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Kaarlo Susi!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Choke misses with a takedown
and Susi counters with a stiff right hand.
Choke misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Susi is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Choke with a body shot.
Choke shoots in but no luck this time.

Choke dives in for a single leg takedown but Susi sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Susi is pressed up against the cage. Choke has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Susi down to the mat. Susi avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Choke closes this distance looking for a takedown but Susi circles away.
Choke misses with a takedown attempt - Susi sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

and Susi counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Choke shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Susi defends it nicely.
Susi doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Choke changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Susi tries to avoid it but Choke manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Susi to the ground. Susi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Choke shoots in for a takedown but Susi shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A little jabbing left from Susi on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Choke misses with a takedown attempt - Susi sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Horrible takedown attempt by Choke or perhaps it was just good defense by Susi, which made it look bad.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

and Susi makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Susi! But no joy.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Susi is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Choke feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Choke drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Susi manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Choke has Susi in his guard.

Susi is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Choke wants to hit a sweep here but Susi passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Choke there!
Choke tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Kaarlo Susi.
I think Susi has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
