Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Curtis Rome (ranked 262 p4p, 324 weight class) and Keith Kenneth Ferkingstad (ranked 32 p4p, 38 weight class). Ferkingstad has chosen Try That In A Small Town as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 26 - 3, fighting out of Amsterdam, Curtis Rome!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 38 - 27 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Keith Kenneth Ferkingstad!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Leandro Rodrigues and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferkingstad lands a head shot.

Rome closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Ferkingstad's guard.
Rome wants to pass the guard but Ferkingstad is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rome postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Ferkingstad looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Ferkingstad is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Ferkingstad escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rome gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rome sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ferkingstad's guard.
Rome is keen to just control but Ferkingstad is a slippery customer.

Ferkingstad wants to control but Rome is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Rome uses his free foot to push down on Ferkingstad's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ferkingstad.

Rome has control of Ferkingstad's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Ferkingstad regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Ferkingstad is wriggling around trying to escape.

Rome is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Ferkingstad can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Rome has hold of Ferkingstad's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Ferkingstad manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Rome wants to take his opponent's back but instead Ferkingstad manages to regain half guard.

Rome is looking for a kimura but Ferkingstad is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rome to get the leverage.

Rome looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Ferkingstad tries to roll over but Rome keeps him under control.

Ferkingstad has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rome is working away from the top position though.
Rome passes to full mount!
Rome cracks Ferkingstad with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Rome jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Ferkingstad is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Ferkingstad and Rome has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Rome is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ferkingstad is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Curtis Rome dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Ferkingstad motions for Rome to come forward. Ferkingstad throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Ferkingstad fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Rome has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Rome checks a leg kick.
Rome shoots in for a takedown but Ferkingstad shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Ferkingstad gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rome to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Rome escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ferkingstad gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Ferkingstad prevents Rome from getting back to his feet.

Rome shoots in for a double leg but Ferkingstad sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Curtis Rome.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rome, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
