Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jin Matsushima (ranked 100 p4p, 203 weight class) and Pope Callixtus (ranked 7 p4p, 17 weight class). The key to victory for Jin Matsushima has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 12 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Jin Matsushima! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 18 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pope Callixtus! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Sosuke Kotani.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Callixtus throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Matsushima appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Callixtus rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Matsushima counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Callixtus loads up on a big right hand but Matsushima slips the punch. Matsushima seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Callixtus takes a swing at Matsushima's ribcage but misses. Matsushima is looking to counter the offense by Callixtus and move into the clinch.
Callixtus has managed to clinch.
Callixtus has Matsushima pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Callixtus pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Matsushima tumbling to the mat - Callixtus dives into Matsushima's guard.
Matsushima pushes Callixtus off and gets back to his feet.
Matsushima looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Callixtus throws an off balance right hand
and Matsushima counters with a nice uppercut. Matsushima uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Callixtus.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Matsushima keeps the fight on the outside. Matsushima seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Callixtus misses with a looping left. Callixtus misses with a lunging right hand
and Matsushima cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Callixtus tries for a takedown but Matsushima circles away easily and Matsushima counters with a straight right hand. Callixtus rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Matsushima counters with a lovely straight right hand! Nice defenses there by Callixtus. A big right from Callixtus misses. Matsushima throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Matsushima jabs at Callixtus's body. Jin Matsushima is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Callixtus clinches up against the cage. Matsushima tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Callixtus looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. A right hook to the body lands for Matsushima.
Callixtus wants to take the fight to the mat but Matsushima manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. A short body shot lands from Matsushima as the two fighters clinch.
Matsushima prevents a takedown attempt there.
Jin Matsushima has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pope Callixtus. Matsushima misses with a hook to the ribs.
Callixtus has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Matsushima avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Matsushima misses with some punches.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Callixtus drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Callixtus has Matsushima pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Matsushima manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Callixtus tries for a takedown. No joy.

Callixtus has clasped his hands together around Matsushima's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Matsushima tries to escape but Callixtus is in control. Callixtus taking a breather here.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Matsushima wants to get back to his feet but Callixtus drags him back down. Callixtus controlling the position. Matsushima is not content to let Callixtus control the position. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Jin Matsushima dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.
Matsushima slips a straight right by Callixtus. A quick step to the side and Matsushima tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Callixtus misses with an uppercut. Matsushima saw that one coming. A counter left hand to the body from Matsushima misses its target.
Callixtus fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Matsushima, pushing him back against the cage. Matsushima lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Matsushima misses with some punches.
Callixtus takes a shot to the head. Callixtus changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Matsushima fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Matsushima moves out of range of the strikes. Nice takedown defense from Matsushima. No joy for Callixtus on that attempt. Callixtus throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Matsushima counters with a stiff right hand. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Callixtus closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Matsushima to the mat! Matsushima manages to get full guard. Matsushima is looking to stand back up but Callixtus counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Matsushima. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Callixtus trying to mount his opponent but Matsushima defends it.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Callixtus is controlling the pace.
Matsushima on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Matsushima tries to get out of the position. Callixtus works his way into full mount!
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Callixtus trying to control but Matsushima is having none of it. Matsushima is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Callixtus controlling from mount. Callixtus is continuing to stall. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Callixtus trying to control but Matsushima is having none of it. Matsushima is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Callixtus sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. The adventures of Callixtus the control monster continue. Boring. Callixtus looking to control but Matsushima is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Matsushima is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Callixtus content just to control the position here. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Pope Callixtus showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Matsushima circles away from the clinch attempt.
Callixtus shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Matsushima as he jumps to the side. Matsushima lands a lovely overhand right. Matsushima ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Callixtus moves away. Callixtus darts in trying to clinch and Matsushima counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Matsushima is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Callixtus can do to turn this around? We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jab by Matsushima.

and Matsushima counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Callixtus goes for a double leg but Matsushima avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Matsushima continues to drive forward. As Callixtus tries to get set, Matsushima tries to push him back and clinch up but Callixtus manages to avoid the attempt. Jin Matsushima has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pope Callixtus.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. Callixtus wants to free his trapped foot but Matsushima is holding on for dear life with his legs. Callixtus takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Callixtus moves nicely into side control. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Callixtus wants to lay and pray for a moment but Matsushima keeps working. Callixtus tries to move into full mount but can't pass Matsushima's legs. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Matsushima is not content to let Callixtus control the position.
 The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Callixtus wants to clinch. Matsushima appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Callixtus doesn't succeed with the takedown and Matsushima counters with a right hand to the body. Matsushima throws out a powerful jab. Jin Matsushima is winning the standup battle so far. The fight stays on the outside here - Callixtus looks like he's thinking about clinching though. As Callixtus tries to get set, Matsushima tries to push him back and clinch up but Callixtus manages to avoid the attempt. Matsushima thuds a left hand into Callixtus's body. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Matsushima tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Callixtus paws at him with a jab and circles away. Callixtus throws a lazy right hand but Matsushima sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
And that's the end of the fight! Jin Matsushima showed his dominance in that final round. I think Matsushima has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
