The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Steven Brown and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rubin swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Makarenko counters with a head kick.
Rubin fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Makarenko avoids it really well and circles away.
Makarenko jabs Rubin right on the nose. Rubin blinks but takes it well.
Rubin throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice cross by Makarenko.
Makarenko uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Rubin.
A right-left combo lands from Makarenko.
It looks like Timur Rubin has been cut.
Makarenko throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Rubin throws a shot from downtown. Makarenko moves away and avoids it.
Cyril Makarenko is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Makarenko fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Rubin has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Makarenko tries to close the distance and clinch but Rubin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rubin connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Makarenko throws a nice outside leg kick.
Rubin misses with a series of wild punches.
Rubin has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Rubin takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Makarenko rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
so Rubin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Rubin stops Makarenko from standing up.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rubin won't allow Makarenko to sweep him here.
Rubin wants to control from the top but Makarenko keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Makarenko wants to sweep here but Rubin controlling him for the moment.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Makarenko holds on and takes a little breather.
Makarenko is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Die Reeperbahn that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Rubin wants to control from the top but Makarenko keeps moving.
Rubin's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Makarenko takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Rubin attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Rubin tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Rubin dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Rubin shoots in looking for a takedown but Makarenko manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Rubin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
A nice leg kick lands there from Makarenko.
Rubin chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Makarenko can pounce on him.
Good leg kick by Makarenko there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Jab by Rubin.
Makarenko bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Rubin's head backwards.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rubin throws a left that rocks Makarenko and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Rubin dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Makarenko regain composure!
Makarenko is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Makarenko is being controlled here.
Oh Makarenko is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Makarenko is trying to improve his position.
Rubin lands a strong strike to the head of Makarenko. That's dazed him! Rubin looking to finish here. Makarenko is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Rubin lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Timur Rubin!
