PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight kickboxing rules bout between Sutter Cane (ranked 5483 p4p, 482 weight class) and Clarence McGee (ranked 2220 p4p, 233 weight class). McGee has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Clarence McGee told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sutter Cane! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 19 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clarence McGee! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yukihiro Shimada and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McGee stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Cane. McGee wants to clinch up but Cane keeps it at a distance. Cane tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. McGee looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. McGee takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Cane lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. A nice leg kick lands there from Cane. Cane chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Cane throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Cane throws a low kick but it's checked well by McGee. McGee takes one on the chin but seems OK.
McGee lands the left hand. Cane moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A solid leg kick lands there for Cane.
Cane will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
McGee thinks about the counter body kick. McGee wants to clinch up but Cane keeps it at a distance. Cane works the jab nicely. McGee checks the leg kick. McGee stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Cane. Cane's corner calls for a 1-2. Cane obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. McGee is looking to chop away at Cane's legs. McGee looks winded! McGee misses with a body kick. Cane fakes a jab and throws a low kick but McGee checks it well. McGee tried to score with a low kick but Cane checks it. Cane lands a nice looking body shot.

McGee wants to clinch but Cane slips to the side and Cane counters with a straight right hand. McGee blocks a low kick nicely. Cane throws a series of punches but McGee moves out of range. McGee moves out of range of the leg kick from Cane. Cane feints and then cracks McGee's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow McGee down. Cane tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McGee was well out of range. Poor timing from Cane. McGee throws a sloppy head kick and Cane counters with an inside leg kick. Cane tries a low kick but McGee avoids it. McGee tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. McGee tries to clinch up but Cane circles away and keeps his distance. Cane connects with a nice looking jab.
Cane jabs McGee right on the nose. McGee blinks but takes it well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cane walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. McGee checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Cane works McGee's body with a nice hook. Cane throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Cane chopping away at his opponent's legs.

McGee has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from McGee there as he acknowledges the shot. Cane uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. McGee takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Cane looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Cane blocks a leg kick. Cane pushes McGee away with a front kick. Cane connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. McGee closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. An inside leg kick lands from Cane. Cane lands a leg kick that knocks McGee off balance momentarily. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Cane, as that shot connected.
A solid body kick from Cane. Cane lands a front kick. Cane tried to score with a low kick but McGee checks it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sutter Cane dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.
Cane fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and McGee has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. An inside leg kick lands from Cane. McGee throws a leg kick that misses. Cane is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that McGee can do to turn this around? Cane misses with a low kick. Cane is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Sutter Cane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cane scores with a jab to the jaw. Cane connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. McGee tries to clinch up. McGee checks a leg kick nicely. McGee throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Cane scores with a jab to the head.

McGee takes a shot right to the bread basket. Cane swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by McGee. A nice leg kick lands there from Cane. McGee is breathing heavily. This has been an exciting period of action! McGee takes one on the button. A right-left combo lands from Cane. McGee takes one on the button. McGee's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. McGee misses with a head kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cane throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Cane lands with a nice combination. McGee backs away looking to recover. McGee tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Cane is able to avoid easily. Cane is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Cane uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before McGee has time to react. Good exchange - Cane coming out on top. Cane with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Cane throws a low kick, looking for McGee's leg but McGee calmly moves out of range. Cane jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

McGee is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Cane scores with a slapping inside leg kick. McGee is still on wobbly legs! Can Cane finish him? Cane connects with a leg kick. McGee looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. McGee seems to have recovered his senses. Cane checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Cane thuds a left hand into McGee's body. McGee takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A cross from Cane lands. Cane connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Cane lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. McGee buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
A nice inside leg kick there by Cane. That's going to slow McGee down. McGee has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. Cane throws a shot to the body.

Sutter Cane dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
McGee misses with a looping left. Clarence McGee has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Cane throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Cane connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed McGee momentarily.

You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Cane. Cane connects with a solid leg kick. McGee takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Cane turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Cane works over McGee's head and body with a nice combination. Cane scores with a leg kick.
Cane is looking to slow McGee down with leg kicks. Sutter Cane is winning the standup battle so far. The crowd cheers as Cane lands an impressive looking overhand right. McGee doesn't seem phased though. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Cane dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on McGee. That did some damage! Cane connects with a solid leg kick. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Cane is looking to slow McGee down with leg kicks. McGee connects with a single shot there. McGee has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Cane. Cane connects with a looping right hand.
Cane checks the leg kick. Cane scores with a decent looking hook. Cane feints and then cracks McGee's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow McGee down.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cane lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. A nice inside leg kick there by Cane. That's going to slow McGee down. Cane lands an overhand right. Cane connects with an inside leg kick. Cane cracks McGee with a perfect right hand that drops him to the mat! McGee is sitting up but I can't see if he's OK from my position. The referee's count has reached 5,6,7 and McGee is still not up. Can he make it? 8,9,10! He's out! McGee could not beat the count!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Sutter Cane!
