Coming up we have a lightweight kickboxing rules bout between Toshi Matoshin (ranked 3137 p4p, 310 weight class) and Erick Clap (ranked 2718 p4p, 277 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Matoshin might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Mortal Kombat theme. Clap has chosen Burn it to the ground as his entrance music. Toshi Matoshin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 2, fighting out of New York, Erick Clap!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shigeki Fujiwara and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matoshin throws an off balance right hand
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
A jab from Matoshin misses.
Matoshin throws a jab when Clap was well out of range.
Matoshin throws a lazy right hand but Clap sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Clap throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Matoshin lands with an overhand left.
Matoshin lands a nice shot that snaps Clap's head back.
Clap throws a low kick, looking for Matoshin's leg but Matoshin calmly moves out of range.
Clap throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Clap avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Matoshin throws a leg kick that is checked
and Clap counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.


It looks like Toshi Matoshin has been cut.
Clap ducks under a wild hook from Matoshin.
Toshi Matoshin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Matoshin loads up on a big right hand but Clap slips the punch.
Clap moves away from the strike by Matoshin.
Clap jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Matoshin looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Good leg kick by Matoshin there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

and Clap counters with a head kick. That will keep Matoshin thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

That was a close round but I would say that Toshi Matoshin will probably get the nod.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Clap clips Matoshin with a right and a left that makes him do the chicken dance for a couple of seconds. He touched his left hand down on the canvas so the referee steps between the fighters to give Matoshin a standing 8 count before we can continue the bout.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

I would just about give that final round to Erick Clap.
I think Clap has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
