Alvarez was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the oldest of five children. His father, James, is a engineer.As a fighter, Francisco would later be nicknamed "Your Worst Nightmare". And his mother, Cora, is a massage therapist. Alvarez is of primarily Hispanic descent.
Growing up, Alvarez played football and participated in soccer and basketball. His parents divorced shortly after he graduated from Eldorado High School.After graduation, he studied four years at the University of New Mexico. |
