We've been told by Joe's head coaches at LA Fitness that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Masters clinches up with Joe and pushes him back against the cage. Masters prevents a body shot from Joe. Joe misses with the head strike.
Masters jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Joe walks away with a smile on his face. Masters gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Joe swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

That's three minutes gone in the round. Masters has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Joe has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jerry Short! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vudu Sims! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Richard Clark and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sims darts in and out, connecting with a jab. It looks like Jerry Short has been cut. Sims swings for the body but Short moves out of range.
Short attempts a counter takedown but Sims avoids it well and moves away. Excellent takedown into side control there by Short. Short has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Short is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Sims has escaped the position, nice work there. Sloppy strikes there by Short. Short postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Short working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Short throws a strike aimed at the side of Sims's head but Sims avoids it well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Short looking to control but instead Sims has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard. Short is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sims doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Short. Short takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Short is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Short missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Short works his way into side control. A lull in the action here. Short has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. An elbow from Short crashes against the mat.
Sims avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Short. Sims prevents Short from moving into mount. Short is trying to get an arm triangle but Sims is defending well. Sims is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Short has just dragged him back down to the mat.

That was a close second round but I would say that Smashy Cartwright will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Wu lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Dinklage clinches up with Wu and pushes him back against the cage. Wu blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Honkanen shoots in for a takedown but Frank shows good takedown defense. Frank uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Honkanen. Frank tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Honkanen manages to circle out of the way. Honkanen misses with a hook
