The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gay G connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Loco misses with a takedown attempt - Gay G sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Gay G lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
J Gay G seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Loco shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Loco was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Bengtsson fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Damato has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Damato tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Bengtsson defends well and Damato ends up having to push Bengtsson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Damato has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Damato gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Bengtsson digs a good body shot into Damato's ribs.
