The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Weight throws a body shot but no joy. Ndombele lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Ndombele smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Ndombele throws a head kick but Weight moves out of range.
Mousa Ndombele seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Weight takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Ndombele dips to his left and cracks Weight with an uppercut! Ndombele lands a jab. Weight slips a straight right by Ndombele. Weight scores with a body shot.

Ndombele bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Ndombele waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Weight. An attempted straight right counter from Weight misses the target. Ndombele throws out a powerful jab. Weight takes a body punch but keeps moving. Ndombele connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Weight momentarily.

Ndombele stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Ndombele misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ndombele misses the shot to the body. Ndombele shoots in and bounces Weight off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Smif on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
A jab from Kid misses. Smif misses with a right hand and Kid counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Kid tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Smif defends well and Kid ends up having to push Smif into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Smif swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Kid moves out of range of the strikes. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Smif takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smif works Kid's body with a nice hook. And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Charles Mesquita. Godwin has clasped his hands together around Ignatiev's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ignatiev tries to bench press Godwin off him but Godwin keeps the position. Godwin in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Godwin cracks Ignatiev with a big right hand but Ignatiev just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Ignatiev struggling a bit here. Ignatiev is holding Godwin down, trying to stall. Ignatiev taking punishment in the form of punches.
