The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Gaines does it's job there.
Pacman looks to land a right hand but Gaines moved out of range.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Gaines! But no joy.
Pacman swings for the body but Gaines moves out of range.
Gaines throws out a counter right but Pacman avoids it with no problem.
Gaines throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Pacman cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Pacman's corner calls for a 1-2. Pacman obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Gaines throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Gaines takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
We've been told by Pacman's head coaches at KO MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Cormier tries to clinch up.
Daniel Cormier seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mallin fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Cormier has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Cormier shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mallin defends it nicely.
Cormier looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
