Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 22 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Ger McDonnell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sickwat Dan ! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Atkins and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dan shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Dan is trying to control the action in half guard but McDonnell is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Dan passes the guard and advances to mount! Dan tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Dan wants to control the pace but McDonnell is squirming around nicely. McDonnell's coaches at Copes have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

With a record of 25 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Svend Thorsby! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Daniel Bishop and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thorsby is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kane. A low kick from Kane is predictable there and Thorsby counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Kane thinking. We've been told by Kane's head coaches at Mentor Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. A nice leg kick from Kane, right into the meat of the thigh.
Thorsby moves away from the strike by Kane. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Kane crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Thorsby - the referee stops the clock and Kane gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Thorsby. Kane manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Kane rushes Thorsby and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. A head punch blocked on the inside by Kane. Kane misses with a hook from the clinch. Thorsby escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Thorsby and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Kane lands a jab to the nose. Chris Kane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kane slips a straight right by Thorsby. Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Kane! Thorsby is out on his feet! Kane rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Thorsby is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Thorsby is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.

Chris Kane decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.

I was talking to Redcliffe's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Martola taking a breather. Martola is trying to maintain a safe position but Redcliffe gets an underhook and turns Martola into the cage. Martola seems frustrated at his inability to get double underhooks. Redcliffe lands a right hand that snaps the head of Martola backwards. Martola takes a shot to the head. Redcliffe lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Martola has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Redcliffe misses with the head strike.

Martola moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Redcliffe throws a head kick that half lands.
Martola's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Redcliffe connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Martola scrambles back to his feet. Martola fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Martola is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Redcliffe was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Martola shoots in and gets a takedown into Redcliffe's guard. Redcliffe is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. This has been an exciting period of action! Martola works over Redcliffe with some ground and pound from guard.

Marski Martola has got the better of the ground game so far. Martola with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Martola wants to pass the guard but Redcliffe is keeping the position. Martola postures up and lands a big shot to Redcliffe's brow. Martola sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. Redcliffe looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Martola's corner calls for a 1-2. Martola obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Martola bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. A clash of legs there as Redcliffe blocks the low kick. Martola dips to his left and cracks Redcliffe with an uppercut! Redcliffe takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. A big left from Redcliffe misses. Redcliffe takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Martola clobbers Redcliffe with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Martola getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Redcliffe misses with an uppercut. Martola is looking to take this fight into the clinch. A nice leg kick lands there from Martola.

Martola throws a jab when Redcliffe was well out of range. Redcliffe punishes Martola's body with a nice straight punch. Martola fails with a takedown attempt. That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Redcliffe jabbing away but nothing is landing. Martola scores with a hook. Martola digs a good body shot into Redcliffe's ribs. Martola moves forwards but Redcliffe connects with a nice, crisp jab. Martola avoids the head kick by Redcliffe.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hicks throws an overhand right that lands on Rainey's shoulder, as Rainey tries to avoid the shot. Hicks cracks a nice hook into Rainey's ribs. Rainey misses the jab. Rainey has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Rainey scores with a jab to the jaw. Rainey lands with an uppercut that bounces Hicks off the cage and back into range. Hicks slaps away a takedown attempt from Rainey, before circling back to the center of the mat. Hicks moves out of range of the strikes. Rainey is looking to clinch but Hicks is avoiding it.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 24 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jim Babcock! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 26 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, Glen Hoddle! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, William Gold and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hoddle lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Babcock looks to land a combination but Hoddle avoids it well. and Babcock counters with a lovely straight right hand! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hoddle shoots and misses and Babcock counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Hoddle misses with a hook. Babcock ducked under it nicely. Hoddle tries for a takedown but Babcock circles away easily and Hoddle takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Hoddle has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Babcock. Babcock moves away from the strike by Hoddle. Babcock is looking to counter punch. Hoddle misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

A quick step to the side and Babcock tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Hoddle's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Babcock connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Hoddle scrambles back to his feet. Hoddle throws a head kick that misses and Babcock counters with a crisp one two that drops Hoddle! Babcock thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Hoddle to his feet! Hoddle is in big trouble! Hoddle is rocked! Glen Hoddle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hoddle throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Babcock counters with a nice uppercut. Hoddle is still on wobbly legs! Can Babcock finish him? That has opened up Glen Hoddle's cut even more. Babcock drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Hoddle right on the button. Hoddle goes down! Babcock follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Babcock gets the win via TKO!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Petrov circles away from the clinch attempt and Petrov counters with a nice low kick that buckles Cleever's knee momentarily. Cleever changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Cleever ducks under a wild hook from Petrov. Cleever uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Petrov.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The fight stays on the outside here - Cleever looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Petrov lands a nice looking body shot.
