Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 45 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wanderson Machado! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luis Palhares! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A nice leg kick lands there from Machado. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Palhares has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Machado is looking for a sweep. Palhares is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Palhares tries to pass to full mount but Machado defends it. Machado throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Palhares stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Luis Palhares seems to be getting the better of the standup. Machado cracks a nice hook into Palhares's ribs. Palhares tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Machado jabs at Palhares's body. Palhares takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

With a record of 27 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marcus Shakes! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Percy O'Donnell.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shakes throws a combination that misses and Ekaku counters with a lovely straight right hand! Ekaku lands with a slapping head kick. Ekaku misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Ekaku went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Ekaku throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Shakes has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Shakes takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

I was talking to Ekaku's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Cango takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Cango displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Doherty throws out the jab. Cango misses with a shot to the body and Doherty counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. A telegraphed right hand from Doherty misses the target. The fighters circle, before Cango throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Doherty's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Cango lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 21 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ivan Drago! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 26 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Vasko Madzarov! The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Drago fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Drago throws a right and a left that Madzarov avoids nicely. Drago falls off balance throwing a combination
and Madzarov counters with a nice body shot. Drago misses with a double jab
and Madzarov counters with a thumping low kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Drago misses with an uppercut
and Madzarov counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Drago thinking.

and Madzarov connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
It looks like Ivan Drago has been cut. Drago swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Madzarov counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Drago has been working on his boxing with his coaches at California Top Team in the buildup to the fight. Drago is breathing heavily. Drago misses with a hook
and Madzarov counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Madzarov has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Drago is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Madzarov lands a big right hand that sends Drago crashing to the mat! Madzarov stays standing though and waves Drago back to his feet!

 That's two minutes gone in the round. Madzarov works on Drago's body with a couple of short punches. Madzarov has the Thai clinch. He lands a big knee to the head that stumbles Drago - he's in trouble! Another big knee to the head from Madzarov, and another! Drago is out on his feet - the ref jumps in to save him and ends the fight!

A relieved looking Vasko Madzarov thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. Ivan Drago was interviewed post fight and said 'If I die....I die'.
