Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lorenzo Smashotti! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zeke Hester! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smashotti missing with a left hand there. Hester was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Smashotti throws a looping overhand right but Hester ducks down to avoid it. Hester tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Smashotti swivels and escapes. Smashotti moves in looking to clinch but Hester pushes him off. Smashotti stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Smashotti wants it to stay on the feet. Hester steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Smashotti. Hester is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Smashotti tries to clinch but Hester is having none of it. Smashotti definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Smashotti tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hester manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Smashotti moves into the clinch. Hester looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Smashotti softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Smashotti jumps guard and drags Hester to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smashotti is looking to stand up but Hester isn't so interested in that idea. Smashotti wants to sweep here but Hester controlling him for the moment. Smashotti is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hester is looking to work some ground and pound but Smashotti has wrist control. Smashotti throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Hester trying to control the position from guard on top but Smashotti is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Smashotti looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Hester in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Hester postures up in Smashotti's guard and throws a big left but Smashotti blocks it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smashotti wants to stand and escape but Hester is having none of it. Hester thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Smashotti wants to get back to his feet but Hester is in a dominant position and won't allow it. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Smashotti throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Smashotti throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Hester counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Hester has his takedown stuffed and Smashotti counters with a one-two to the body. Lorenzo Smashotti has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zeke Hester. Hester avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Smashotti tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hester manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. And Hester tries to counter it with a takedown but Smashotti pushes his down on his head and steps out. Smashotti leaves Hester with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. A punch combination from Smashotti misses. Hester tries to clinch up but Smashotti circles away and keeps his distance. Smashotti rushes Hester and presses him up against the cage. Smashotti wants the takedown. Hester is fighting it off but Smashotti persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Hester's guard against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hester trying to keep a closed guard but Smashotti is proving a slippery customer.
Hester tries to land a sweep but no joy. Smashotti scoring with punches to the head and body. Hester is trying to control the position but Smashotti postures up. Hester working a defensive guard but Smashotti manages to pass into side control anyway.
Smashotti stands up and we're back to a striking position. Hester fails to land the takedown. Hester on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Smashotti moves into range and clinches up with Hester. Smashotti is defending well against a takedown attempt. Hester tries to pull guard but Smashotti forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Smashotti clinches. Smashotti is trying to push Hester away but Hester has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Hester pulls guard. Hester looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Smashotti postures up.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bliss takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Bliss's coach down at Ragnarok\'s Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Bliss's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Bliss misses with an uppercut. Bliss steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Anubis. Bliss appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Bliss loads up on a big right hand but Anubis slips the punch. Bliss looks to score with a jab to the body but Anubis is just out of range. Anubis is looking for a counter combo. Bliss throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Anubis drops down looking for a counter takedown but Bliss sprawls and moves away. Bliss uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Anubis.
Anubis shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bliss sprawls well. Bliss wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Anubis gets slowly back to his feet. Bliss throws out a counter right but Anubis avoids it with no problem. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bliss keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Bliss throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Anubis. Bliss on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Anubis throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Anubis takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Bliss is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

and Anubis counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Bliss has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Anubis is working away from the top position though. Anubis controlling the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ground and pound from Anubis. Bliss really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Anubis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Anubis not doing much here.

Bliss is not content to let Anubis control the position. Still in half guard, Anubis seems content to control. Bliss controlling the position well. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bliss can do anything to dispel that myth.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Anubis takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Anubis showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Bliss.
Bliss takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Bliss displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Anubis throws out the jab. Bliss steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Anubis. Anubis pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Anubis throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bliss is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Anubis feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Blisss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Jab by Anubis. Anubis scores with a jab to the jaw. Anubis closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Bliss's guard. Anubis stops Bliss from standing up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Anubis sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Bliss's guard. Anubis wants to control but Bliss is keeping him busy. Bliss has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Anubis is working away from the top position though.

Bliss pushes Anubis off and gets back to his feet. Anubis closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Bliss is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Bliss is trying to stand up here but Anubis is controlling him well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bliss trying to control here.

Bliss darts in trying to clinch and Anubis counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Anubis shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bliss defends it nicely. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Horus Anubis. That's going to take a lot out of him. Anubis lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Chuck Bliss is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Bliss uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Anubis. Anubis changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bliss looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Bliss throws Anubis to one side and escapes! Anubis swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Anubis is trying to pull guard but Bliss has him pressed against the cage. I was talking to Anubis's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Bliss gets underhooks to prevent Anubis's takedown attempt.

Bliss wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Anubis stuns Bliss with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Anubis moves away from the strike by Bliss. Anubis avoids the body shot from Bliss.

With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dean Gaines! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gaines keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Stewart. Gaines uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Stewart. Stewart connects with a right hand. Gaines shakes it off. A slow jab from Gaines misses its intended target. Gaines swings and misses with a shot to the body and Stewart counters with a one-two to the body. Stewart connects with a right hand. Gaines shakes it off. Gaines pushing out the jab but it's not landing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gaines throws a right hand that misses
and Stewart counters with a nice uppercut. Stewart keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Gaines looks to land a right hand but Stewart moved out of range. Stewart misses with a left hand and Gaines counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Stewart thinking.

It looks like Stewart has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Oooooh!!! Stewart has knocked Gaines down with a huge combo! Stewart steps away and waves a wobbly Gaines back to his feet! This one might not go much longer! Gaines is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Stewart is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Gaines flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Gaines is out cold! Stewart holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McCoy throws a series of strikes that have Lewis backpedaling.
Lewis fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. McCoy sprawls well initially but Lewis persists and gets the takedown into half guard. McCoy controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Lewis trying to control the action but McCoy is working from the bottom. Lewis is figuring out what he wants to do next. Lewis's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McCoy is looking to get to half guard. Lewis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
