Davis throws a hook but Janjan blocks it. Janjan tries to move into range but Davis moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Davis has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Davis misses with a right hand and Janjan counters with a series of strikes. Davis will be more careful next time no doubt. Davis dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Davis's corner calls for a 1-2. Davis obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Davis misses with an uppercut

Karter tries to land a sweep but no joy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sicarius with a nice head shot there. Sicarius makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Sicarius has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Sicarius trying to control the position from guard on top but Karter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sicarius is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Sicarius distracts Karter with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Sicarius slips nicely into half guard.

Sicarius can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Karter is looking to escape. Sicarius has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Karter's face.

Kano Sicarius seems to be getting the better of the standup. Karter steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Sicarius. Nice uppercut lands for Sicarius. That snapped Karter's head back.

 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spong tries for a takedown but Siuta sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. A little feinted left hand from Siuta on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Spong connects with a crisp jab. Spong bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Reepo postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Rurik is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Reepo, into his guard.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Rurik controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Reepo throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Rurik escapes and throws Reepo's legs to the side, diving into side control! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jay Reepo will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Rurik takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Reepo's corner calls for a 1-2. Reepo obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
