Misahawa shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Misahawa misses with a hook. Paulsen ducked under it nicely. Misahawa feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Paulsens jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! A telegraphed right hand from Paulsen misses the target. Misahawa uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. The crowd cheers as Misahawa lands an impressive looking overhand right. Paulsen doesn't seem phased though. Nice body punch from Misahawa. Paulsen lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Branco throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Branco tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Joe Jr takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Branco throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Joe Jr works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Joe Jr is trying to get back to full guard.

Branco has an Americana. Joe Jr didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Branco is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Branco hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Our spies down at at Soul Supremacy Rio inform us that McCarthy has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Campbell accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Campbell postures up and lands a big shot to McCarthy's brow. Campbell throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as McCarthy works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Campbell is working McCarthy over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Proh prevents Dennis from improving his position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Proh takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Dennis is trying to get back to full guard. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Proh working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. It looks like Kane Thoupos has been cut. Thoupos has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Talvela takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

and McIntyre counters with a right hand to the body. McIntyre ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. McIntyre quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect. Puff throws a hook but McIntyre avoids it easily. A relieved looking Methodios McIntyre thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. Powder Puff was interviewed post fight and said 'I can't believe I lost to that little piece of shit. I'm retiring.'.
