 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shima ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Makkonen lands a glancing blow to the side of Shima's head. Shima throws a big shot that misses. Makkonen dips to his left and cracks Shima with an uppercut!

 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cunningham swats away the attempt to clinch by Nascimento. Nascimento misses the shot to the body. Cunningham stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Nascimento throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Cunningham is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Nascimento tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Cunningham looks to score with a jab to the body but Nascimento is just out of range. Nascimento slips under a jab from Cunningham. Nascimento misses with a hook
and Cunningham counters with a nice double leg into side control. Nascimento won't be happy with that. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Cunningham working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Check out the look on Cunningham's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Cunningham closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Nascimento did well to prevent Cunningham getting side control. Manfred lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Manfred lands a few punches from side control. Temple tries to buck Manfred off but Manfred is having none of it. Temple wants to control but Manfred postures up. Temple is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Temple looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Temple takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Manfred working the head and body with strikes.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Manfred controls the position from side control. Temple can't do much from the bottom here. Manfred lands a decent elbow from side control. Manfred misses with the ground and pound. Manfred misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Temple is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Manfred wants to lay and pray for a moment but Temple keeps working.

Manfred is looking for a kimura but Temple is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Manfred to get the leverage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Manfred thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Manfred working the head and body with strikes.

Temple is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Manfred defends well.
Temple escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Manfred gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Temple bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Manfred's guard.

Temple postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Manfred lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Temple might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Manfred haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Temple has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Manfred can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Manfred in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Temple is trying to control the position from the bottom.

 That's eight minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Manfred tries to free his leg and advance position but Temple is retaining full guard. Manfred trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Manfred trying to control but Temple is working from the bottom. Manfred is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Manfred slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Temple had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Manfred defends it easily. Manfred chips away with some ground and pound.
 That's nine minutes gone in the round. Manfred landing with the ground and pound. Manfred trying to control but Temple is working from the bottom. Temple has control of Manfred's left arm, preventing Manfred from doing any damage. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Manfred trying to control but Temple is working from the bottom.
 The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Manfred throws a sloppy body shot
letting Temple counter with a right hand. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Klaus Manfred dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
No joy there for Temple, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Manfred throws a body shot but no joy. Temple feints the counter takedown. Manfred slips a jab from Temple. Temple lands a two punch combo.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Temple is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Temple has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Manfred is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Temple. Temple is not content to let Manfred control the position. Manfred is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Temple can do to turn this around? Manfred is chipping away with strikes.
 That's five minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Temple's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Temple tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Manfred easily slips into full mount! Manfred lands a nice shot to the head. Temple tries to hold on but Manfred postures up. Manfred postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Temple looks a forlorn figure.
Temple is rocked! Manfred breaks from Temple's wrist control and lands an elbow. Temple is still in real trouble! Can Manfred finish him?
 That's six minutes gone in the round. Manfred tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Manfred raining down hammerfists from mount. Manfred controlling his opponent. Temple is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Manfred postures up and throws a massive shot that knocks Temple out cold! Two more strikes to his unconscious opponent for good luck and this one is all over! Manfred goes absolutely crazy with his corner! Wow, you can see how much that win means to him!

With a record of 16 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tevin Shay! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 22 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Deanthony Pederson! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Ian Loll and Elvis Blanc.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shay scores with a jab to the head.
Shay with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Pederson to score with a decent uppercut. Shay doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Pederson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Shay manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Shay is looking to cinch up a triangle. Pederson throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Shay's body to avoid the submission. Shay has instead reached around Pederson's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Shay arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
