PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Putte Ro (ranked 2012 p4p, 1515 weight class) and Omar Brown (ranked 117 p4p, 95 weight class). Omar Brown will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Putte Ro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Omar Brown!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brown tries to keep at a distance but Ro has taken the fight into the clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Ro.
Brown has a couple of punches blocked by Ro.
Brown working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Ro has a couple of punches blocked by Brown.
Brown works on Ro's body with a couple of short punches.
Ro struggles to land a body shot inside as Brown controls his hands.
Ro fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Brown can't find room to land a body shot as Ro controls the action.

Brown pulls guard effortlessly.
Ro stands and throws Brown's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Ro trying to control the position but Brown is working away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
You can see the frustration on Brown's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Ro tries to move into full mount but can't pass Brown's legs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Brown can't do much from the bottom here.
Ro working the head with strikes.

Ro tries for a kimura but Brown is defending well.
Brown tries to improve position but can't.
Brown is trying to escape the position but Ro is controlling the position.
Ro seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Brown for as long as he can get away with.
Ro has knee on belly and moves into mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ro landing strikes from the mount and Brown is in trouble!

Ro moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Brown has worked his arm free - good work by Brown!
Ro is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Brown will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Ro continues to stall.

Ro wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Brown, who protects the arm well.
Ro wants to lay and pray for a moment but Brown keeps working.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Ro thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Ro takes a little break here. Brown wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Ro throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Ro is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Brown knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Ro trying to control the position but Brown is working away.
Brown is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Ro off and has taken his back!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Brown controlling well, preventing Ro from escaping the position.
Brown really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ro. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ro rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Brown tries to pass the half guard into mount. Ro knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Putte Ro dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Brown uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ro.
Brown thows a left - swing and a miss!
Brown moves away from the strike by Ro.
Brown slaps away a takedown attempt from Ro, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Ro swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Brown throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Ro is rocked!

It looks like Putte Ro has been cut.
Ro walks straight into a right hand from Brown - that's dropped him! Brown jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Ro from any more punishment! Ro complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Omar Brown!
Omar Brown decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
