Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nord Licht!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sheikh Mahmut!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mahmut throws a jab when Licht was well out of range.
Mahmut throws an overhand right that lands on Licht's shoulder, as Licht tries to avoid the shot.
Licht thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Mahmut if he has to take too many more of those.
Licht takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Mahmut swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Mahmut tries a head kick but it misses.
Mahmut ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Licht moves away.
Licht connects with a nice looking jab.
Licht has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Licht throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
It seemed like Mahmut was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Mahmut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mahmut scores with a jab to the body.
Licht checks a leg kick.
As Mahmut backs away, Licht returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Mahmut throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Licht.
It looks like Nord Licht has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mahmut cracks Licht with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Licht looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Mahmut finish him?
Licht is rocked!
Licht leaves his chin hanging out and Mahmut seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Licht crumbles to the floor in a heap, and the referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Sheikh Mahmut!
Post fight, Sheikh Mahmut took to the microphone: 'There was something about that guys face, you just wanted to beat the hell out of it. He can't get any uglier so why not. Praise Allah Akbar!!!!'.
