PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jesse Pinkman (ranked 134 p4p, 95 weight class) and Oscar Blaydes (ranked 19 p4p, 11 weight class). Pinkman comes to the cage accompanied by Quavo & Takeoff - Hotel Lobby. Blaydes is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Black Sunshine - White Zombie. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jesse Pinkman!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Oscar Blaydes!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Percy O'Donnell and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pinkman takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Blaydes takes a swing at Pinkman's ribcage but misses.
Blaydes throws a poor cross that misses
enabling Pinkman to counter with a crisp jab.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Pinkman checks a leg kick.
Pinkman half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
A nice inside leg kick there by Blaydes. That's going to slow Pinkman down.
Pinkman throws a hook but Blaydes blocks it.
Blaydes fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Pinkman checks it well.
Blaydes fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Pinkman looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Blaydes closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Pinkman has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Blaydes uses from the top position.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Blaydes working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Blaydes got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pinkman has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Blaydes has managed to get both his arms back between Pinkman's legs - danger averted.
Blaydes is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Pinkman has his feet on Blaydes's thighs here. He's pushed Blaydes off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Blaydes screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!

After the fight, Jesse Pinkman was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
