PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tagnarach Kamara (ranked 205 p4p, 315 weight class) and Jakob Rolf (ranked 28 p4p, 44 weight class). Kamara comes to the cage accompanied by BLIND SPOTS. Rolf has chosen AVGN Theme Song as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 17 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tagnarach Kamara! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 17 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jakob Rolf! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rolf throws a body shot but no joy. An attempted straight right counter from Kamara misses the target. We've been told by Kamara's head coaches at Convicted Fight Club that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Rolf doesn't succeed with the takedown and Kamara counters with a nice leg kick. Kamara gets tackled into the cage by Rolf. Rolf maintains the clinch. Rolf tries to score a body lock takedown but Kamara shows good agility there to stay on his feet. A nice right hand lands inside from Kamara. Knees in the clinch landing for Kamara.
Rolf misses with the head strike.
Kamara digs a right hand into Rolf's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Rolf's gas tank. Kamara lands a shot to the body. Rolf throws a head punch that misses. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Rolf has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Kamara misses with a body punch.
Rolf turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Rolf manages to end up in side control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kamara is trying to improve his position. Rolf is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kamara is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Rolf is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kamara knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rolf trying to control the position but Kamara is working away. Rolf thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Rolf has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Kamara is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Rolf yanks on the arm and Kamara is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Rolf.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jakob Rolf! A relieved looking Jakob Rolf thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
